Getting your blog up to date

Most of you have really embraced the idea of blogging......well done.

However, for a small group of you there is a lot of work to do (less than 10 posts puts you in this group).

20 marks are available for R & P. We rarely award full marks because students don't document the progress of their foundation production as fully as they could - despite repeated requests to do so. However, that said, there are some excellent blogs emerging this year....

Recent activities you need to get on your blogs:

1. Analysis of the title sequence (approx 2 mins) of at least TWO films. We tried this in class but the Art of the Title sequence website would not work on the laptops - the task was set as homework. We looked at Se7en, The Shining and Taxi Driver in class but you were free to choose your own examples.

Check out Evie's blog to see how it should be done or Lizzie Starling's for an interesting range of films which she has uploaded. It isn't the most exciting task in the world but you will be cross referencing to these blog posts when you are producing your own title sequence and when you upload your finished film opening.

2. After Effects workshops - this is a major change this year in that we are employing a software technician to teach you how to use a sophisticated piece of kit. Please document your learning.....and post your experiments. Again, see Evie's blog as she has managed to upload her work.

3. In preparation for the development of your own logos/idents I asked you to research into:

WARP FILMS
VERTIGO FILMS
STUDIO CANAL
MOMENTUM PICTURES

Specifically, I asked you to deconstruct TWO company logos/idents in order to consider the kinds of films that the company was likely to produce/release. This links back to textual analysis and an analysis of mise-en-scene.

I also asked you to produce company biographies.

Making the blog dynamic...

All of you should upload the Hangover work/ the video on genre/ the preliminary task/ the first sharing of ideas.....

Get cracking.....and stay on top of the work.

Mrs B.
